The back cover of Gene Pitney , His Climb to International Success is a three-dimensional collage portraying Gene 's career. Gene Pitney 's success started as a composer. The top left section of the back cover shows Rubber Ball , Hello Mary Lou , I Wanna Love My Life Away , and He's A Rebel . Immediately after Gene 's first hit composition , Pitney emerged as an American rock and roll recording star. Liberty Valence , Only Love Can Break A Heart , Mecca , and Backstge were a few of Gene Pitney 's major hit songs in the U.S. In late 1963, Gene crossed over "the pond" (Atlantic Ocean) to start his international success in Britain. Three major UK hits are shown in the bottom left corner of the collage: Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa , I'm Gonna Be Strong , and Somethings Gotten Hold Of My Heart were tremendous successes for Pitney . Gene 's career continued until his death through tours in the UK, Australia, and the USA. One tour program from each country finishes the collage - the bottom right corner of the back cover. Using bi-directional drop shadows Gene Pitney , Renown Composer , American Recording Star , British Recording Star , and International Rock Star appear above the surface of the back cover, like embossed lettering, when viewed at the natural angle when carrying a book. The more light, the better. |
